“Likes” don’t pay the bills. Here are 3 of the most important things you can do to make people really notice your Instagram posts.
The bottom line is that your business is on social media to drive customer awareness and generate more sales.
1. GRAB CUSTOMERS ATTENTION BY INCORPORATING WORDS WITH GREAT GRAPHICS
Take high quality photos of your merchandise with “narration.” Buy a piece of slate or a chalkboard to add words, descriptions or sales information to the photos of your merchandise. Write on the slate or chalkboard with bright colorful lettering using a product like MoodClue liquid chalk markers. Customers are more likely to read the words in a photo than to read the underlying description of your post. Add an action item like “Sale Ends Tuesday”.
2. USE THE RIGHT HASHTAGS
Hashtags are how people find your account and how you become part of a community. It’s also how Instagram knows in what category you’re posting and what’s in your photo so that they can show your posts to people who might be interested. There are lots of free and paid services that will help you find the right hashtags like Later.com. Also, in your business account, you can use the “View Insights” button under each post to see how well the post did and where the interactions came from. This is a powerful tool.
3. POST CONSISTENTLY WHEN YOUR FOLLOWERS ARE ON INSTAGRAM
The Instagram algorithm rewards consistent posters by serving up their content more frequently but you want to post when your followers are online. One of our favorite tools for facilitating and tracking this is the Preview App. It helps you find the best times and dates to post and when to interact. Images are so fleeting and so numerous that you have to post at the optimum times to be seen. No matter how great your posts are, if they aren’t seen then they won’t be noticed.
